Internship Reminders:
 

  • Check your internship assignment under the Placements tab for accuracy! If you have been informed of a clinical teacher or placement change by your principal or district liaison, and it is not reflected under the Placements tab, please notify or alert the Office of Clinical Experiences immediately by submitting a COE IT Help Desk ticket.  (Select: Student Support -> 4. SONIA)  Failure to do so may prevent your assigned clinical teacher from receiving important communications regarding internship requirements.

 

  • Intern I candidates do not utilize the Sonia Online timesheet feature.  Weekly attendance, lessons taught, and conferences will be recorded on the Internship I Agreement Form, which is distributed by the Office of Clinical Experiences toward the end of the semester.


To access your Sonia Online account:

Students: Select your role (Student) from the menu in the task bar above and click the University Sign In button. Do not enter your credentials directly in the task bar.  You will be redirected to the ECU Single Sign-On page where you will then enter your full ECU email address and password.

University Supervisors: Select your role (University Supervisor) from the menu in the task bar above and click the University Sign In button. Do not enter your credentials directly in the task bar.  You will be redirected to the ECU Single Sign-On page where you will then enter your full ECU email address and password.  **If you are not directed to the ECU Single Sign-On screen and are redirected back to this page, you may not have an active Sonia Online account.  Please submit a COE IT Help Desk Ticket for assistance.**

Clinical Teachers: Clinical teachers do not have a Sonia Online account.  All communications are sent directly to the school email address provided to the College of Education by the intern.  We ask that clinical teachers include all ECU email addresses (@students.ecu.edu and @ecu.edu) on their safe senders list in order to avoid emails and notifications being blocked or pulled into spam or junk mail folders.

Q: Where do I locate my Internship placement/assignment?
A:
You can locate Internship assignment information under the Placements tab.  The internship site will be listed at the bottom of the placement group you joined when submitting the Application for Internship.  By clicking the red Details button next to the placement group name, you can find the assigned clinical teacher.  Once assigned for the Intern II semester, University Supervisor assignments can be found under the red Details button as well.  Upon review, if the site, teacher, or supervisor information is incorrect at any point, please submit a COE IT Help Desk Ticket and COE IT will route your inquiry to the proper office.

Q:
What do I do if I'm having trouble locating an email with forms that need to be completed?
A:
Email messages will typically be sent from the ECU address, oce@ecu.edu.  First, check that the email has not been sent to your junk mail folder.  If the message can not be located there, log in to your Sonia Online account.  Any forms you are required to complete can be located under the Forms tab.  A full copy of the original email can be located under the Documents tab as well.  If you still are unable to locate the items in one of those three places, please submit a COE IT Help Desk Ticket for Sonia Online assistance.

How do I make a change or correction to a form I have already submitted?
A:
If you need to edit a form that has already been "actioned", the form can be reopened by COE Sonia Administrators.  Please submit a COE IT Help Desk Ticket for Sonia Online assistance, detailing (1.) form name, (2.) field name to be edited.
